2009 Organisational Assessment

In April 2009 Comprehensive Area Assessment (CAA) replaced the Comprehensive Performance Assessment (CPA) process. CAA is a new way of assessing local public services in England. It examines how well councils are working together with other public bodies to meet the needs of the people they serve. Local public services will be held collectively to account for their impact on better outcomes. This means that CAA will look across Councils, Health Bodies, Police Forces, Fire and Rescue Services and others responsible for local public services, which are increasingly expected to work in partnership to look at what matters most and tackle the challenges facing their communities.

LFRS Operational Assessment Peer Review 2010

In February 2010, the Service underwent an Operational Assessment inspection conducted by an independent team assembled by the Improvement and Development Agency.

This assessment process is self-commissioned and addressed three requirements: firstly, it provided assurance to the Authority – and any other interested party - that the operational functions of LFRS were being delivered effectively; secondly it allowed for any improvement opportunities to be identified; and thirdly it informed the annual Audit Commission led organisational assessment.

External Audit 2010

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service have commissioned an Operational Assessment in February 2010 and expect further assessments relating to the Use of Natural Resources and the Fire and Rescue Service Equality Framework later in the year.
